Discovery Parks - Narooma Beach

Seaside caravan and camping holidays don’t get more ideal than Discovery Parks – Narooma Beach (formerly Beachfront Camping Narooma) on the far south coast of NSW.

Facilities include a tranquil saltwater infinity pool, hardcourt tennis and volleyball courts, multiple barbecue areas and a shaded camp kitchen.

THE FAR SOUTH COAST 

A truly remote location with views to the historic wildlife haven of Montague Island, Discovery Parks – Narooma Beach sits among a beautiful eucalyptus forest just metres from the sand on the stunning Handkerchief Beach. 

Bordered by the very best of south coast beaches and intrepid coastal walks, lush green farmland surrounds the property while the sparkling blue inlets of Handkerchief and Nangudga Lakes are the perfect spot for a swim, paddle or fish. 

Roughly three hours’ drive for Canberrans but approximately five for those coming from Sydney, Narooma is one of the more underrated destinations on the Far South Coast, but revels in its uniqueness. Dotted with amazing beaches and photogenic inlets, as you drive over the Wagonga Inlet bridge be prepared to stop to admire what many consider to be one of Australia’s most vivid waterways. 

If driving isn’t your thing, you can also fly from Sydney to Moruya Airport, then rent a car to make the 45-minute drive south.  

THINGS TO DO NEAR NAROOMA 

Known for its emerald-coloured bays, luminescent waterways and nearby national parks, regular visitors to the region love Narooma’s remoteness, raw nature and abundant marine life. 

Glasshouse Rocks is a popular must-do just a few minutes along the coast from the park and there are several days’ worth of picturesque coastal trails to explore. For the more adventurous, glass-bottom kayak tours led by local guides are bookable, or if a gentle cruise is more your thing, there are plenty of operators in the area. 

Mill Bay Boardwalk is only a little further up the Princes Highway from Glasshouse Rocks, and is home to schools of fish, stingrays and shallow water octopi. Bring your best swimmers but locals will tell you that the water is so clear you might not even need your snorkel. 

There are also bike rides to challenge active travellers, including the popular Narooma to Dalmeny cycling route; you can snorkel with seals on Montague Island, and explore rock pools and rock formations including the famous must-see of Australia Rock, the unique result of thousands of years of natural erosion. 

The village of Narooma itself is at the heart of the Oyster Coast, and as such there are plenty of local eateries and cafes where you can taste the local delicacies and enjoy craft beers and top quality wines as well. 

A short drive south from the park will lead you past another string of waterways, including Corunna Lake and through national parks and the foothills of Gulaga Mountain.  

Mystery Bay is another must-see at the overlap of stunning national parks, forest and farmland. Ancient geology, rock pools and more pristine beaches make this another popular spot.
